Earth Hour, the world’s largest awareness campaign for planet protection, is just around the corner. On Saturday, March 24, 2018, we are all invited to contribute to this effort and connect to the environment around us, by turning off the lights for one hour, from 20:30 until 21:30. This global initiative began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia, and has since mobilized millions of citizens, businesses and agencies every year in more than 180 countries.
Besides the symbolic act, Earth Hour is a good opportunity for each one of us to evaluate our everyday habits, realizing that through some alternative choices we can contribute to the protection of our planet that is threatened by climate change.
PGS Lighting Electrical is actively involved for another year in the campaign, not only by turning off the lights of all its stores around Cyprus, but also by promoting the replacement of conventional bulbs with LED technology.
LED technology offers high efficiency, is environmentally friendly, reduces CO2 and operating costs, and is not based on harmful elements for humans and the environment (mercury, fluorine, UV radiation). As a result, it is the ideal solution for home, commercial and industrial lighting (hotels, shopping malls, offices, exhibition halls, etc), as well as for public areas (roads, squares, stadiums etc.) In addition to the significant energy savings offered by LED technology (around 80%), LED bulbs have a long-life expectancy, low maintenance cost and are available in a variety of colors and shapes.
From March 24 until the end of April 2018 (or while stock lasts), PGS Lighting Electrical gives consumers the opportunity to replace their conventional light bulbs with German LED warm white bulbs Osram, at a low cost. The specific bulb, will be available at all PGS stores all around Cyprus, at the price of €1.99.
